Atlantic City Gets Token (or Card) Representation in New 'Monopoly' Game

by KYW's Ed Kasuba

Atlantic City, NJ will be represented in the new “Here And Now” edition of Monopoly after all.

The decision by the Hasbro toy company comes after officials in Atlantic City mounted a petition drive to keep their city represented in the new game.

Neither Boardwalk -- nor any other part of Atlantic City for that matter -- will be a property on the new game board. However, Hasbro spokesperson Pat Riso says, the company is doing something else:

"Atlantic City will be remembered in the new 'Here And Now' edition, and that’s going on sale later this summer.  Our game makers will be creating a Community Chest card, and that card will remind Americans that Atlantic City remains a popular tourist destination in the here and now.”

Riso also notes the classic Monopoly game board, first sold in 1929, will still be available.
