Analysis: Congressman Brady for Mayor

by KYW's Larry Kane

The mayoral sweepstakes in Philadelphia may be shaken up shortly.

Reliable sources tell KYW Newsradio that Philadelphia Congressman Bob Brady has told members of the business and labor community that he would at least take a hard look at running for the Democratic nomination for Mayor.

Brady, who is also Democratic chairman, has a wide base of support and might cause several of the six candidates considering a run to drop out.

We've also learned that members of organized labor will demonstrate in support of a Brady candidacy on Monday morning at a meeting at a downtown hotel.

Brady is popular among the city's Democratic ward leaders who will have a big say in next year's primary election.
